For Seed, we're honored to be working with an incredible team of diverse artists, all with their distinct-yet-complementary visual styles, to create a unique visual identity inside and outside the Seed world. So, with that in mind, this is the beginning of a new series where we'll be giving some insight into the creatives behind the visuals of Seed. First up, Shanaz Byrne...
Known for creating alluring character concepts inspired by sci-fi and the natural world, Shanaz has gained a following for her delicate low-poly art style.
Shanaz on Her Influences
“I take inspiration from various sources, which fuels my curiosity to try out new ideas; that's what shapes my work as a whole. I also love being outdoors surrounded by nature, I feel that you can really tell this in my work.
In terms of artists, I've been heavily influenced by Eran Hilleli, which is why it's so amazing to get to work with him on this project. When I first started out with 3D, he was a huge source of inspiration.”
Shanaz on Software and Tools
“I use Blender for all my modeling, but also dabble in other 3D software, like Cinema 4D and Zbrush. I also heavily combine photoshop in my 3D work, for textures, finalized GIFS, etc. For 2D work and sketches, I use Procreate for iPad.”
Shanaz on Seed
“With Seed, I get to combine many of my passions on this project; I have a lot of creative freedom and get to delve into models and concepts about astronomy and technology, which I'm totally obsessed with.
I love the scope of the project, and, as the world of Seed takes place on an exoplanet, there's a lot of room for imagination. I'm really enjoying these early stages and the challenge of realizing this world.”
